The four-string plectrum guitar is a cousin to the tenor guitar and five string banjo- it's the guitar bodied version of the plectrum banjo developed in the early twentieth century. Typically tuned CGBD. Wonderful for chord-melody style playing, it has a big, warm sound that will hold it's own as a solo instrument or with any band. This instrument has actually been designed as a plectrum guitar, not just a six string body with a long skinny neck attached like the majority of them made in the past. |
| My friend Mike Evans from the Toll House Jazz Band in Columbus, Ohio has recorded "Bill Baily" with his plectrum guitar on his solo cd "All By Myself". Click here to listen to it as an mp3 |
